Obituary of Kenneth James Tabor
Kenneth James Tabor passed away on March 15, 2025 at the age of 89.
Kenny was born on December 8, 1935 in Wilkin County on the family farm. He attended a one room schoolhouse until 8th grade, then went on to graduate from Breckenridge High School in 1954. He served proudly in the United States Army. Then, he attended Wahpeton Science School where he obtained his Electrician degree.
Kenny married his blind date, Sharon Rogneby on May 28, 1960. Together they raised three daughters and built their home on the Iron Range. Kenny had a successful career as an electrician at US Steel - MinnTac for 30 years. He served on the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department and was an active member of the American Legion for 50 years.
Kenny enjoyed hunting and making venison sausage, fishing, camping, gardening and the Minnesota Twins. His most treasured times were spent with his kids and grandkids. He was hardworking, kind-hearted and never voiced a complaint.
Kenny was preceded in death by his mother Helen (Harvego) Madsen and stepfather Hans Madsen, sister Elaine Frison, brother-in-law Larry Blackburn, sister-in-law Pauline Tabor, and son-in-laws Donald Zack and Brian Coyle.
He is survived by his wife Sharon of 65 years, children Shelley (Gerry) Cheney, Sandra Coyle, Melissa (Tom) Donofrio, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, his brother Clyde Tabor, sister Maxine Blackburn, brother-in-law Joe Frison as well as nieces and nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.
Celebration of Life: Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 3:00 pm at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery with reception to follow at the Cast Iron Grill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Solvay Hospice House. We thank the staff at Solvay for their attentive, compassionate care.
