Clarence “Andy” Anderson

Clarence Cornell Anderson, 85, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.

Andy was born October 27, 1939, in Crosby, MN to Clarence and Louise Anderson. He graduated Crosby-Ironton high school in 1957. He joked that when you lived in a small town you were on all the teams, and boy, he sure was. He played basketball, baseball and was co-captain of the football team. He was also homecoming king, class president and honor society member. It was after high school he met the love of his life, Jayne, who he was married to for 62 years. They were blessed with two daughters, Kristin and Heidi.

In 1962 he received his Bachelor of Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and began his career at U.S. Steel in Gary, Indiana. In 1971 he got his MBA at Loyola University and shortly after moved back to Minnesota where he held various positions in sales and marketing in the steel industry retiring from Vincent Metals. His product knowledge and management skills were utilized to develop many young salespeople into future upper management positions. He would also meet before work with his colleagues to have coffee and solve all the company and world issues.

Andy loved reading books, especially science fiction, and spending time at the cabin fishing and deer hunting. We have fond memories catching sunnies with him followed by the best fish fry ever. He loved to tell stories and share his wisdom around the table just like his mother, Louise. He was an active member in his community belonging to the Masons-Shriners, Rotary and Elks in Detroit Lakes and was an active member at All Saints Lutheran Church in Minnetonka as an usher and member of the Men’s Breakfast Club.

Andy is survived by his wife, Jayne; daughters, Kristin (Alan Shemwell) Anderson, Heidi (Bill) Keefe; grandchildren, Aidan Keefe and Gracie Shemwell. He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Louise; brothers, Scott and Blair, and sister, Gayle.

A celebration of life at All Saints Lutheran Church, Minnetonka will be scheduled for a later date.
