Betty Claire Sorensen

Betty Claire Sorensen (also known as June, Grandma June and GG June) passed away on Sunday March 9, 2025 in Maple Grove, MN at the age of 85. 

She was born on March 11, 1939 in Kerrick, MN to Ralph and Clara Wahlquist.  Betty graduated from Askov High School in 1957 and went on to nursing school in Duluth, MN where she graduated from St. Lukes with her RN license in 1960. 

Betty married her high school sweetheart, Douglas Sorensen on July 22, 1961 in Askov, MN and they were married for over 62 years until Doug's passing on March 8, 2024. 

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Douglas, parents Ralph and Clara Wahlquist, eleven aunts and uncles and other relatives and friends.  She is survived by sons: David (Geri), Steven, grandchildren: Daniel (Melissa), Matthew (Rachel), and great-grandchildren: Ryan, Brian, Autumn and Brayden. Betty is also survived by brother Richard (Earlene), sister Dorothy (Russ) and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Cemetery in Askov, MN.
