Obituary of Jack Howard Phillips

Jack Howard Phillips, 95, passed away Wednesday, March 12th, 2025, at Keystone Bluffs Assisted Living in Duluth.

He was born on September 7th, 1929, in Duluth to Elmer and Nora Phillips.

Jack joined the Army, where he was stationed in Japan. He married Marlyss Bergren June 28, 1947.

He worked for US Steel until his retirement.

Jack was an avid North Shore fisherman and a Co-Founder of the North Shore Steelhead Association. He spent many hours having coffee and telling tall tales at Jim’s Bait.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlyss; daughter, Janice Blazier; brothers, Elmer, Bob; and sister, Helen.

Jack is survived by his son, Jim (Sandy); grandson, Eric (Lisa); granddaughter, Mindy; great granddaughter, Hope; and six additional grandchildren and 12 more great grandchildren.

Thank you to the staff at Keystone Bluffs and a special thank you to Mason, who took very special care of Jack.

Per Jack’s wishes, no service will be held.
