Obituary of Beryl Dean Morton
Beryl Dean Morton died Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Sunset Hospice Center in Worthington, MN. Beryl was born March 12, 1936 to Loren (Shorty) and Dorothy Morton. He attended elementary school in Fairmont, MN and graduated from high school in Westbrook, MN. He married Betty (Cohrs) in 1954. Together they had three children. They lived most of their lives in Westbrook, MN where Beryl worked at and later owned the Westbrook Egg Company. Beryl was an active member of the community taking part in Kiwanis, serving on the church council at Grace Lutheran Church, and helping to found the Rolling Hills Golf Course. He was a member of the Minnesota Egg Board and the Midwest Egg Board.
After selling the Egg Company, he and Betty moved to Neosho, Missouri where he worked to become an investment counselor for Edward D. Jones. He and Betty ran offices in Peru, Indiana and Van Buren, Arkansas. After his retirement, they lived in Bella Vista, Arkansas before moving back to Westbrook, MN. Throughout his life Beryl enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, travel, and card games with friends. Beryl and Betty took their children on many family vacations traveling to almost every state. He and Betty also traveled to Europe, Hawaii and Alaska.
After Betty’s death in 2010, Beryl was reacquainted with an old high school friend, Myrna Anderson, whom he married in 2020. They lived in Windom, MN and created many happy memories with her children and playing cards with old and new friends.
Beryl was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lois, his brother, Ronald, and his wife Betty. He is survived by his wife Myrna, his son David (Pat) Morton, his daughters Laurie (Lee) Kantonen and Nancy (Stephen) Michael, eight grandchildren Jacob (Sarah) Kantonen, Darcy (Kyle) Solem, Micah (Tess) Kantonen, Jared Kantonen, Lydia (Dylan) Mans, Daniel (Elisha) Paul, Nicholas Michael and Sidra Michael, as well as six great grandchildren, his sisters in law Sue Cohrs and Jeanie Morton, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is planned for March 22, 2025 at 11:00 at American Lutheran Church in Windom, MN. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Westbrook Cemetery.
