Ann S. Stout passed away peacefully on February 27th, 2025 from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease at Arbor Glen Senior Living in Lake Elmo, Minnesota.
Ann was born the daughter of Orman and Vernice (Elofson) Suker on August 23, 1946 in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from Minnetonka High School, class of 1964 and the University of Minnesota.
She married Richard “Dick” Stout on September 2, 1967. They lived for several years in Towson, Maryland before returning to Minnesota and settling in the St. Croix Valley in Stillwater, MN.
Ann and Dick raised their four sons first in Oak Park Heights and later in Bayport. They enjoyed spending winters in Green Valley, Arizona after retirement.
Ann was a loving wife and wonderful mother with a curious mind and boundless sense of adventure. She absolutely loved to travel and cherished taking her young boys on long road trips to explore National Parks and nameless adobe ruins. She travelled all over this country, never on the beaten path, stopping at every roadside marker and place of interest, hungry to learn all she could about wherever the road took her. Her favorite place was on the shores of Lake Superior and she never missed a chance to see those waters. Her lifelong love of learning even led her to follow the entire route of the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Ann was passionate about books which she read voraciously her whole life. She thoroughly enjoyed sharing her love of books with friends and family at every opportunity. She was a gracious listener and a counsel to many. She had a strong faith that centered her life and maintained a strong bond with her bible study friends throughout the years. She loved her boys, her books, her dogs and the North Shore.
Ann is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard Stout; sons, Andrew (Wendy); Tim (Stacey); Pete (Kim); and Jon and she loved being a grandmother to Colin, Clare, Addison, Miles, Jackson and Ethan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert Suker.
Special thanks to the staff of Arbor Glen Senior Living, the Bluestone Medical Group and Brighton Hospice. Your care and kindness was exemplary.
Abiding by her wishes, cremation took place and a Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 19th at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, MN at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Bayport Public Library, Young Life in the St. Croix Valley, or the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter.
