Obituary of Cathleen L. Campbell
Cathleen “Cathy” L. Campbell, 76, of Edina, MN, passed away surrounded by loved ones on January 23, 2025, after a long and fulfilling life as a loving wife and mother. She was diagnosed with Amyloidosis over 10 years ago, demonstrating courage and strength as she navigated the disease. She beat the survival odds, spending summers at the lake and winters in Palm Desert with her family and friends. Although we are heartbroken, we take comfort knowing she is now at rest.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7)
She was born in Minneapolis, MN in 1948 to Ruth and Emile LaSere. Cathy attended West High School before studying interior design at the University of Minnesota, and ultimately started her own interior design business. Cathy met her beloved husband of 48 years, Bruce Campbell, at the University of Minnesota when Bruce was a resident and Cathy managed the outpatient OBGYN clinic.
Together Bruce and Cathy had two sons, Andrew and Stuart. Cathy thrived as a mother and dedicated herself to creating a idyllic life, warm home, and charmed childhood for her boys. She was known for being a creative force with a kind heart, many talents, passions, and wisdom to share (all without taking herself too seriously). We will rejoice in retelling her stories and revel in the happiness her memories provide. Her determination, wit, humor, and unwavering love offer a roadmap to live by for those of us who survive her. We see so many of her wonderful qualities shining through in her dear granddaughters, a blessing she cherished.
Cathy was preceded in death by her father Emile LaSere and mother Ruth LaSere. She is survived by her husband Bruce Campbell, her two sons Andrew and Stuart (Abbey); granddaughters Emilia and Maxine. She is also survived by her sister Jeannie Izzo (Mike Izzo), cousin Linda LaSere (Keith Dahling), cousin Bette Erickson (Breck Peters), sister-in-laws Joan Jonswold (Jeff), Betty Johnson (David), and Sue Johnson, along with many beloved nephews, nieces, friends, and neighbors.
We will have a celebration of life later this year. In lieu of flowers, donations to either the Amyloidosis Foundation (working to improve the lives of those diagnosed and living with the chronic illness; 7151 N. Main Street, Suite 2, Clarkston, MI 48346) or the Mayo Clinic (the hospital that helped keep Cathy with us long after her diagnosis) would be greatly appreciated.
