Obituary of Matthew Timothy Hotujec
Matthew Timothy Hotujec was born on November 19, 1975, in Hudson, Wisconsin, and left this earth on January 27, 2025, in Minneapolis, Minnesota after a lifelong battle with depression.
Matt met Krista Ostrom in their freshman year of college and they were married on September 3, 2011 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. He was an incredibly proud stepfather to Krista's daughter, Lily. Matt was the kindest, most humble, gentle, funny, and compassionate man, and his memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Matt will forever be lovingly remembered by his wife, Krista Ostrom of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his stepdaughter, Lily Cozine of Minneapolis, Minnesota; mother, Darlene Hotujec of Woodbury, Minnesota; sister, Melissa (Thomas) Eibner of Rosemount, Minnesota; brother, Mickey (Jill) Hotujec of Woodbury, Minnesota, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; so many friends and colleagues; mother-in-law, Jean Ostrom of Hutchinson, Minnesota; brother-in-law Dan Ostrom of Port Angeles, Washington, and his beloved Newfoundland dog, Sam. He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy Hotujec; cousin, Staci Hotujec; maternal grandparents, Frank and Annette Kiphart; paternal grandparents, Pete and Margaret Hotujec, and father-in-law, Lee Ostrom.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 2 PM at the Cremation Society of Minnesota at 4343 Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with a visitation one hour prior at 1 PM. An informal wake will be held following the service at a nearby local establishment for anyone who would like to laugh and cry and raise a glass to remember Matt. His wife and family encourage any Packer fans attending the service to wear green and gold. He would get a kick out of that.
Matt was a proud employee of Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare in Saint Paul, Minnesota for many years, working in information security, and believed wholeheartedly in Gillette's mission.
Memorials in his honor can be made to Gillette at https://gillettechildrens.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donate.event&eventID=521
Matt's generous organ and tissue donations helped forever change the lives of approximately 50 people.
