Obituary of Nettie Jean Walters
Nettie Jean Walters, 80, passed away suddenly Monday, January 27, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Jean was born May 21, 1944, to Charles and Verna Gerard. She was 9.5 minutes older than her twin Mary Joan. She married the love of her life, James Walters, on June 19,1970.
Jim and Jean spent 12 winters as snowbirds in Arizona and Texas. They traveled all over making memories and life-long Bounder RV friends. Jim and Jean loved their RV, especially when it was filled with family for a fun day at Bayfield Applefest. On one trip, Jean and her granddaughter streaked their hair pink! They also enjoyed many summers at Eagle Point on Big Sandy Lake in McGregor. When their snowbird days were done, they bought a parcel at Pathfinder Village and spent summers with their friends in the “Bs.”
Jean was a loving mother and the best grandma and great grandma. Her love for family and friends, and her witty personality were endearing. To say Jean will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her, is an understatement.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband Jim, son Glenn, her parents, two brothers (Don and Sonny) and brothers-in-law (Skip Bourman and Stan Thompson).
She is survived by her twin sister, Joan Bourman and sister Barbara Thompson, daughter Debbie (Ken) Goossen, sons Jeff (Lori) Hoyum, James (Becky Alm) Walters Jr., granddaughter Courtney (Giorgio) Gallo, four grandsons Joel (Brooke) Carlson, Joshua Hoyum, Christian Hoyum and Max Walters, great-grandson Sully Kile, honorary grand-daughters Carrie Kibler and Emily Geissler, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
