Obituary of Jerome Olvera
Jerome Olvera, age 51 of Brooklyn Center, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 24, 2025 after a short battle with a rapidly progressive autoimmune condition. He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Lissa, and their son Aiden, age 11, mother Martha Galvan, sister Amy (Chris) Olvera Hernandez, sister-in-law Martina Olvera, in-laws Jerry McCleskey and Marion Makinen, brother-in-law Travis (Anastasia) Cash, brother-in-law Ryan Cash, nieces Amyleanna and Aylea, nephews A.J., Christopher, Jon Vincent, Jason, and Jacob, and great-niece Demi Rose. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Preceded in death by his brother John Olvera, father Braulio Olvera, grandparents Rodolfo and Beatrice Gonzalez, grandfather Antonio Olvera, and many other cherished family members.
Jerome touched the lives of all who knew him with his deep faith and unwavering love. His family was the very center of his world and he poured himself wholeheartedly into his role as a husband and father. Even from a distance, he remained a devoted and loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, and nephew to his family in Texas; eagerly looking forward to each reunion (and his mom’s delicious cooking).
His love for Jesus was equally deep and sincere. His faith was the foundation on which he built his life. It wasn’t just in words but in actions. His kindness, patience, generosity, and his ability to see the good in others, all reflected his love for Christ.
Jerome’s friends and family could always count on him for counsel that was wise and grounded in scripture. His wisdom was not of the world, but a wisdom rooted in the Word of God.
As a teenager, Jerome developed a passion for drawing and drafting, honing his creative skills with great enthusiasm. He turned that talent into a career, founding Signet Print and Design in 2008. Jerome’s appreciation for the arts didn’t end there. He had a passion for music of all kinds, finding solace in the beauty of lyrics and melody. Jerome also had an undeniable love for basketball and a keen interest in acquiring collectible toys and comics.
Anyone who met Jerome will remember his sense of humor. His big, boisterous laugh was infectious, and he had a way of making any moment lighter with his quick wit. He will be greatly missed.
