Obituary of Kasi Marie Korum

Kasi Marie Korum, 45, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer and other health challenges. She was born on July 9, 1979, sharing a special birthday bond with her father, Doug.

Known for her vibrant personality and generous heart, Kasi was a champion of kindness from an early age. She helped her mother with in-home childcare, shared her love of learning with classmates in need, and even taught herself sign language to ensure no one was left out. Kasi’s love for animals led her to adopt vegetarianism as a teenager, a commitment she proudly upheld.

Kasi had a passion for poetry, especially Shakespeare and Edgar Allan Poe, and she filled notebooks with her own original works. Music was another joy; she played guitar and cherished performing on stage with friends. She enjoyed traveling and shared special adventures with her family, exploring historic sites and landmarks across America.

Despite her own personal health and addiction struggles, Kasi’s indomitable spirit never wavered. She embraced each treatment program with courage and positivity, earning admiration from fellow participants. Her resilience was often guided by the words of her favorite poem, Invictus by William Ernest Henley, which she took to heart as a personal mantra.

Kasi found profound love and partnership with Thomas Wright, who became her devoted caregiver and best friend. They were married on January 16, 2025. She is also survived by her beloved daughter, Heavyn Harris; her brothers, Kyle and Scott; her sister, Marisa; her father, Doug, and stepmother, Donna; and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Darla Mathews, and her grandparents, Donald and Beverly (Mathews) Thorp and Willis and Mary (Libra) Korum.

A celebration Kasi’s special life will be held on Saturday, Feb 8, 2025 in the in the Aspen room at the McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center 13550 Dakota Ave S, Savage MN from 1-4:30.
