Obituary of Joan Marie Belanger
Joan Marie Belanger, age 94, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on 01/23/2025. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Douglas (2001) and infant son Peter (1964). Survived by her children: Suzanne Rennolet (Charles), Thomas Belanger (Diane), Brian Belanger (Sue), Mitch Belanger (Dawn); her grandchildren Avery and Joseph; her younger brother Michael Gormley (Ellen) and many nieces and nephews.
Joan was a 1949 graduate of St. Margaret’s Academy. After high school she worked at Fannie Farmer, Trans World Airlines (TWA) and Cargill. She married Douglas Belanger on June 16, 1956, at St. Albert’s Catholic church in Minneapolis. A homemaker for many years, in 1974 Joan began a 20+ year career working at the Hennepin County Library near Southdale. She enjoyed working at the library and her job dovetailed nicely with her love of books and reading.
In retirement Joan assisted Doug with making maple syrup at their sugar bush, High Path, located in Luck, WI.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Annunciation Catholic church. Date and time to be determined. Final internment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Joan lived a life of faith and now is at peace within Heaven surrounded by the warm embrace of Jesus and her family members who awaited her there. She will be missed by all of us.
