Cas Loobeek

Obituary of Cas L. Loobeek

Cas L. Loobeek (Grand Dutch) left us on January 10, 2025, at the age of 94. Cas was born on April 20, 1930, in Venlo, The Netherlands, immigrating to the US at the age of 22. Settling in Minnesota Cas met and married the love of his life, Marion Clara Perkins, celebrating 63 years of marriage until her passing. Cas and Marion were long-term active members of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church.

Cas and Marion moved to Texas in 1975 and then to Southern California in 1982, returning to Minnesota in 2016.

Cas served honorably in the US Army during the Korean Conflict before a long and distinguished career in merchandising, management, and entrepreneurial pursuits. An avid sports fan, Cas was a passionate follower of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, making good on his promise to jump out of an upstairs window after the Vikings lost their second Super Bowl.

Cas is survived by three children, daughter Laurie Aarsvold (Matthew), adopted sons Don (Laurette), and Ron (Lori), five grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Cas was ever present in the various activities of each child and a source of strength and support to the grandkids and great grandkids.

Preceded in death by Marion, infant daughter Marion Lee, his parents, numerous brothers and sisters, having grown up in a family of 14 children.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 AM on February 26th, 2025, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave. S. Edina, MN 55343. Following the celebration, Cas’s ashes will be placed next to Marion and Marion Lee, in Fort Snelling Veterans Cemetery in Minneapolis.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked anyone wishing to do so to donate to Cathedral of the Pines Camp through Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Cas’s name. Link: https://onrealm.org/mtolivet/-/form/give/cathedralofthepines and include his name in the memo section.
