Obituary of Patricia Ann Mitby
Age 84, of Remer, MN passed away January 19, 2025.
Pat was born on June 5, 1940 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She went to Riverside Presbyterian Church when she was young, spending time in youth groups. She took tap dancing lessons at the Citizen’s Club and later enjoyed going to Pill House dances with live music. Pat had a wonderful childhood with her parents and two siblings.
After high school, Pat held a variety of jobs, including Elevator Operator at NSP and associate at department stores in downtown Minneapolis. This is where her fashion sense began. She would buy clothes and specifically cashmere sweaters. She was always ‘dressed to the hilt’ with heels and gloves for her jobs.
Pat started dating Roger in high school, they married in 1961 and lived in Minneapolis for three years. Their relocation adventures began when Jeff was three days old with a move to Eau Claire, WI. Beth was born there 18 months later. Various jobs of Roger’s sent them to Maryland, Pennsylvania and ending in Illinois where Jeff and Beth finished high school. Then in 1983, Pat and Roger moved back to Minnesota. Pat enjoyed her medical assistant career while in Illinois and when she moved back to MN, worked for her brother Bob at his Nursey/Garden Center. She kept the office running smoothly until her retirement in 2003, when Pat and Roger moved ‘up north’ to the lake.
There were many wonderful memories throughout the years. Road trips in the old pickup truck with Jeff and Beth stowed away in the back brought them to Disney World, Washington DC and camping at the ocean. Pat and Roger enjoyed their many travels together to Vegas, Disney World, and Key West. After Roger’s passing, Pat continued her travels with her brother visiting AZ, FL, and other parts of the country.
Pat’s pride and joy was her family and times spent at the lake. Her grandkids were the focus of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to spend time with them; baking pie crust cookies, crafting, attending their events and spending time at the lake.
Many of you may not know that Pat had a passion for clowning and created her own character, Freckles the Clown. She made her own costumes and took clowning so seriously that she joined the Minneapolis Aqua Jesters and went to their clown camp. Freckles would visit the grandkid’s daycare and schools, and she took part in both the Minneapolis Aquatennial and Longville’s Fourth of July parades.
Pat’s Alzheimer’s journey was challenging to both her and the family. We would like to thank all of you for your love, support, prayers and acts of kindness.
Preceded in death by husband, Roger and granddaughter, Bailey. Survived by children: Jeff (Pauline) and Beth (Dennis): 5 grandchildren: Jake, Hannah, Elle, Jessi, and Nick; Beth and Dennis’ son Chad; brother Bob Velander and sister Marcia Enfield and many relatives and friends.
