Obituary of Patrick Schulz
On January 13, 2025, Patrick Schulz departed his life peacefully in his home with loved ones by his bedside. Pat leaves behind a skilled, workmanlike yet loving legacy defined by his career as a master electrician and proud IBEW member.
Patrick Albert Schulz was born on March 03, 1947, to Joseph C. Schulz and Irene (McDonnell) Schulz. Patrick attended Cathedral of Christ the King High School and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from UW-Superior. After graduation Pat worked as an electrician for 26 years at Georgia Pacific in Superior, WI until the plant closure in 2001. At that time, Patrick became a master electrician for the state of MN and worked independent jobs in coordination with IBEW in the Twin Ports.
Pat played the French horn in the Duluth Superior Orchestra, and the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce. Pat enjoyed reading, music, golf, playing games and his greatest achievement being a loving and involved father and grandpa. He was passionate about classical music, he would spend endless hours listening to his favorite composers and classical pieces. Pat also enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in volleyball, powerlifting, golf, baseball, football and hockey. He enjoyed spending time with his dear friend and companion, Sue Kangas.
Patrick is survived by Mary K. Braget (ex-spouse) Mizhah, MN, Sue Kangas, Superior, Daniel Patrick Schulz and spouse Wendy C. Schulz, Avondale, AZ, Randall Raymond Schulz, Cloquet, MN and Jennifer June Rice and spouse Ryan Rice, South Range, WI and grandchildren: Madison C. Schulz, Raya E. Schulz, Keagan J. Rice, Brayden P. Rice and Carson D. Rice.
He is preceded by his parents, Joseph and Irene Schulz as well as siblings: John, Robert, Thomas, Rosanne Schulz, and Catherine Haase. Also preceded by brothers-in-laws: Loren Haase, David Ritsche and Eugene Carlson.
Pat is survived by siblings: Mary Carlson, Juliana Ritsche, Irene (Jim) Mulroy, Joseph (Sandra) Schulz, and James (Karen) Schulz along with numerous nieces, nephews and beyond.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, February 3, 2025 from 4 pm – 6 pm at Cremation Society of MN 4100 Grand avenue, Duluth, MN 55807. Also, an additional gathering of remembrance will be held at Shamrock Pizza, 5825 Tower Avenue, Superior, WI 54880 beginning at 6:30 PM.
