Obituary of Marty Lee Mauser
Marty L. Mauser, 68, passed away on January 16, 2025 with his wife by his side after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born on December 5, 1956 in Winton, MN to Ben and Lorene Mauser. Growing up in Ely, Marty spent time at the family cabin on Fall Lake fishing, swimming and canoeing with his siblings and cousins. In high school he played hockey, baseball and football and went on to Gustavus Adolphus College to play football as a linebacker graduating in 1979. After college he worked in the property insurance field specializing in large corporate clients and rising to the level of Senior Vice President of property brokerage for Marsh McLennan and Aon. In early 1988 he became a beloved father to his son, Samuel (Sam), and on Valentine’s Day 1991 his daughter Elizabeth (Liz) was born. He met his wife Nancy in 2010 on a blind date and they got married on August 26, 2017 at their cabin on Wolf Lake. For the last several years of his life, he and Nancy spent summers at their cabin enjoying kayaking, canoeing, hiking and biking – and playing with their puppy Kivi, who Marty adored.
Marty is survived by his wife Nancy Sorjanen, his daughter Elizabeth (Quinn) Kramer, his son Samuel Mauser, his brothers Paul (Lori) Mauser and Jack (Margo) Mauser, his sister-in-law Sandy (Jay Pohlman) Thom, his mother-in-law Catherine Sorjanen, his ex-wife Catherine (David Reid) Marsnik, numerous nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
Marty is preceded in death by his father and mother Ben and Lorene Mauser and his sister Barbara Henwood.

at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Avenue South, Edina, MN.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the service starting at 2:00 p.m. with reception following.
