Obituary of Mary Patricia Donovan
Mary (Lano) Donovan, 68, of Foley, MN, passed away on January 6, 2025. She was born to Frank and Joan Lano on December 3, 1956. She graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1975. She made her home in Foley for 36 years and lived a life defined by service, devotion, and good times.
Mary proudly served her country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Her service exemplified her strength, resilience, and dedication to others, qualities she carried throughout her life.
A proud mother, Mary treasured her daughters, Autumn and Rachel, and found immense joy in her role as a grandmother to Dakota, Arianna, Roman, and Rylenn. She was their biggest fan, always eager for updates on their sports and achievements.
Mary spent over 40 years in the financial industry, often offering her expertise to locals by doing their taxes and answering financial questions. Later, she managed the Foley American Legion for eight years, where she built lasting friendships.
Mary’s known for her spirited personality, strength and stubbornness, which all allowed her to stay in her home until her final days. Mary had a deep love for simple pleasures. She could often be found cheering for the Minnesota Vikings, enjoying a cold Stroh’s Light, attending mud-bogging events and car shows or sitting on the couch watching OP Live. She was always ready to share the latest updates on the Falcon wrestling team.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Joan Lano, and her brother, Dave Lano. She is survived by her daughters, Rachel (Kahn) Weber (Rob) and Autumn Olson; her cherished grandchildren, Dakota, Arianna, Roman, and Rylenn. She is also survived by her sisters, Barb Mauer (Craig) and Annie Jantzen and many friends who have become like family over the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 30, 2025, from 1-4PM at Mr. Jim’s, 840 MN 23, Foley, MN 56329, where friends and family are invited to share stories and tip back a cold one in her honor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Foley American Legion.
Rest in peace, Mom. Your light and love will never be forgotten.
