Obituary of Clay Randolph Moore
Moore, Clay Randolph age 96 of St. Anthony, passed away peacefully on January 3rd, 2025. Clay was preceded in death by Sylvia Sletto Moore, his wife of 68 years; his parents Perry and Mary Moore; stepmother Joyce Moore; sister Josephine Comartin; brother John Moore; and his sons James and Scott. Clay is survived by his brother Mark Moore (Carol); daughter Claire Martin (Tim); son Stephen; grandchildren Karlyn (Luis), Charles, Perry and Eleanor; great-granddaughter Sofia; as well as a large extended family. Clay was born in 1928 and grew up in the Kenwood neighborhood of Minneapolis. He graduated from West High School and the University of Minnesota. After college, Clay served in the US Air Force. Upon discharge, he enrolled in the U of M Law School and graduated near the top of his class. He served on the Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif. After law school, Clay worked as clerk to federal judge the Hon. Edward J. Devitt. After his clerkship, he began a long, distinguished legal career in the firm then known as Mackall, Crounse, Moore, Helmey and Holmes, now known as DeWitt LLP. He was a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He married Sylvia Sletto in August of 1955. After retiring, Clay enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage, watercolor painting, spending time with his kids and beloved grandchildren, and foreign travel with his wife Sylvia. No service will be held.
