Obituary of Jerald Thomas Pope
Jerald Thomas Pope
4.24.1956 - 12.21.2024
After five years of living with dementia and ALS, Jerry died at home, bathed in the love of his family.
Jer was forever curious, confident, upbeat and outgoing, he was an easy guy to love. When he had few words left, they included: perfect, love you, and c’mere (so that he could give you a kiss). Whether a friend or a stranger, he made you feel welcomed with the warmth of his smile, a hug, and a joke or two. And he was grateful. For the life he lived, the love he got, and the love he got to give.
There was much about Jer's life that he cherished. He deeply loved his children, Alex and Charlie, to whom he was a storybook dad. He was inseparable from his twin, Greg, and they spent their careers together at Two Popes Film. (He was giddy about the fact that he made a living doing what he loved.) Jer also made non-profit fund-raising films, of which he was extremely proud. He loved hiking, travel, sailing, live music, filmmaking, golf (sometimes), the cabin, deep conversation, and anything to do with Julie. After 38 years of marriage, he still couldn't take his eyes off of her. They loved each other as much on the last day as they did on the first.
Jerry left us too soon, but with great memories. And so much laughter. Somewhere, in joyous peace, he joins family who left before him: his dad Roy, mom Dona, and nephew Kevin. Pretty sure they are up there having a ball.
The rest of us remain to miss him: his wife Julie, daughter Alex (Evan), son Charlie (Lauren), grandchildren Lillet and Harrison, siblings Greg (Lorlei), Maureen (Jim), Cheri (Mike), Dave, Tricia (John), and many more family and friends who loved him dearly.
We hope you'll join us in a celebration of Jerry's life on January 11, 2025. 12:30-1:00 Visitation, 1:00 Mass, Dessert and Fellowship to follow. Practicing Catholics will be served wine. All others, BYOB.
