I want to tell a funny story about my mother, Barb. I (as well as half of the twin cities) was asked to be an extra in the movie Ice Castles. I was only 15 years old. My mom drove me to the ice arena and hung out while they spent the whole morning filming this ridiculously boring scene down the corridor of an ice arena.
She was all decked out in 70s fashion with a brown suede jacket with groovy sherpa detail. Little did she know, mom unwittingly became the star of the background. So when she up and left, and they had to do a retake, the continuity team came in and said where's the lady in the brown suede coat? Where is she? They looked at me, Where is she? I bit my lip trying not to laugh and I said I do not know this woman you speak about.
They had to reshoot the whole thing without her, and let's just say, my mom's fleeting moment of fame was cut short - literally, she ended up on the cutting room floor. Ever since, we've had a good laugh every time we watch "Ice Castles", wondering if we can spot that one scene where she was almost a star.
Rest in the loving arms of the Lord dear Mom. Will miss you terribly and I promise to take care of Dad.

So so sorry to hear of Barb's passing. I remember seeing her in St. Louis, MO, when my ex, Dick, and I drove down to see her and Tom with I believe their first Daughter. She was outside hanging up clothes on a "clothes line" with the little one in a playpen outside with her. She always had a smile and the kids ment the world to her. Rest in the peace of the Lord, Barb!
