Obituary of Roseanne Byrne

Roseanne Catherine Byrne (Rosey) of Duluth, MN, passed away on December 28, 2024, at the age of 69, at the home she and her husband, Mark Leutgeb, shared.

She was born to Joseph Byrne and Anna Mary Scheller of Rosemount, MN, on July 26, 1955. She spent her childhood with her parents and siblings in Rosemount and St. Paul, MN.  She married Mark Leutgeb on September 17, 1982, in St. Paul, MN.  She received her Nursing Degree at St. Mary’s University in Minneapolis, MN, and her Bachelor’s in Nursing at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.  She spent her life and career caring for others, including as an RN and Administrative Representative at St. Mary’s Hospital (now Essentia) in Duluth. Later, she worked in Corporate Compliance at Essentia and at First Plan of Minnesota.  Rosey loved playing with her grandchildren, reading books (especially by Lake Superior), and visiting with her many friends and neighbors.  

Rosey is survived by her loving husband, Mark Leutgeb of Duluth, MN; sons, Daniel (Emily) Leutgeb of Eagan, MN, Timothy (Chelsea) Leutgeb of Duluth, MN, and Peter (Erin) Leutgeb of Duluth, MN, and her beloved grandchildren: Clara, Arlo, Logan, and Silvie.  She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Michael Byrne and Joe Byrne, and sister Mary Byrne.  She is survived by her sisters, Peggy Byrne and Kris Byrne, and brothers, Tom Byrne, Tim Byrne, and Pat Byrne.  Rosey was a second mom to many others and provided a home away from home for family, friends, and traveling musicians. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 19 at the Black Woods Event Center in Proctor, MN, from 1-4 pm, with a Remembrance at 1:30. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of MN.
