Mary Margaret Navin (Kellner)

Our beloved mother, Mary Margaret, peacefully passed away on December 24th at the age of 88. Born to Theodore(Bob) and Margaret Kellner on August 1, 1936, in Park Rapids, MN, she was raised on an 80-acre homestead in rural Nevis. After graduating from high school in 1954, Mary moved to St. Paul, where she met the love of her life, John T. Navin. They married in 1957 and lovingly raised five children in St. Paul’s Midway area before building a home in Gem Lake.

Throughout her life, Mary demonstrated remarkable talent and dedication, balancing various jobs to support her family. A true free spirit, she introduced us to the joys of life with memorable road trips across Minnesota and South Dakota, hamburgers at Porky's, festive holiday celebrations and many more. Mary had a generous heart and there was always a place at the table for those that visited her home.

She was dearly loved by many and will be profoundly missed. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John, and her grandson, Jake. She is survived by her children, Michael (Elena), Mary Elizabeth (Robert), Steve, Patrick (Cindy), and Christine (Bradly); 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A gathering for a celebration of life will be held from 3-7 p.m. on January 10, 2025 with a service at 5:00 p.m. at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 1979 Old Hudson Rd, St Paul MN 55119. Internment of Mary’s ashes alongside her husband at Fort Snelling will be held at a later date.
