Obituary of Arlene I. Stoneburg
Arlene I. Stoneburg passed away December 24, 2024, at the age of 85.
Arlene was born on April Fool's Day and has been full of laughs and light her entire life. She was born and raised in Starbuck, MN to Arnold and Rachel Holten. She was the eldest girl in their family of eight children and the first Holten to graduate from Starbuck High School. She was so proud and connected to that tiny town of hers.
Arlene married her beloved, "Birdie," Burdell Stoneburg in 1958. Upon marriage they relocated to the big city of Minneapolis. During their 52 year marriage, they welcomed daughter Debra, "Debby," and son, Daniel. She also shared her love and care with many children and families through her in-home daycare.
Once she retired from daycare, she joined Burdell working at Nokomis Square in Minneapolis. She eventually took over his role in the building upon his passing. She was a caretaker to all who knew her. She found great joy in assisting neighbors, elderly friends, and of course, her family.
Arlene was a loving mother and grandmother. She had a beautiful soul and would help anyone. Her radiant smile lit up any room she entered. Arlene enjoyed going out shopping and having meals with her neighborhood friends. She attended Richfield Lutheran Church as often as possible, and enjoyed socializing with her fellowship friends.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Rachel; her brothers Gerald, Reynold, and Otto; her husband Burdell; brother-in-laws Darwin Stoneburg, Maurice Loen, James Owen, and James Goehring, her sisters-in-law Verna and Inez Stoneburg; and her son-in-law, John Anderson.
She is survived by her children: Debra “Debby” Anderson, Daniel (Laura) Stoneburg; her grandchildren: Jamie (Dominic) Betancourt, Jake, Josh, and Justin Stoneburg; sisters Priscilla Loen, Barbara Owen, Jean Goehring; her brother, Kenny Holten; her sisters-in-law, Joann and Carol Holten; brother-in-law, James Stoneburg; along with countless other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at Richfield Lutheran Church on Friday, January 3rd. Her funeral service will take place at 11am with a luncheon following. Visitation will be held from 10-11am. The church address is 8 West 60th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55419.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Arlene will shine in our hearts forever.
