Obituary of Thomas Myron Sell

Thomas Myron Sell, born on September 26, 1942, in St. Paul, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, in Apple Valley, Minnesota. He was the beloved son of Margaret and Myron Sell and grew up alongside his four sisters, Susan (Rad) Cox, Becky (Gene) Luna, Stephanie (Jay) Rostow, and the late Marilyn Rubio, as well as his five brothers, Gary, Ray, Joe, John (Pam), and Tim (Colleen). He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Margaret, and his sister Marilyn.

In 1960, Tom briefly attended the University of Minnesota before answering the call to serve his country. From 1961 to 1966, he served with honor in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1969. On December 19, 1971, he married Barbara Irene Ohm, with whom he shared nearly 53 years of love and partnership.

In 1972, Tom and Barb moved to a farm in Eyota, Minnesota, where Tom built their family home and operated a dairy farm for three decades. A devoted husband and father, Tom cherished time spent with his family and enjoyed playing basketball with his sons.

Later in life, Tom embraced new hobbies such as fishing, woodworking, and crafting intricate stained glass pieces at their home on Pelican Lake in Breezy Point, Minnesota. In 2014, he and Barb relocated to Rosemount, Minnesota, to be closer to their grandchildren. He took great pride in attending their activities and being an active presence in their lives.

Tom is survived by his wife Barbara; his children Gregory (Jen) Sell and Jerry (Alina Gerba) Sell; and his cherished grandchildren Xavier, Natalie, Amelia, Camille, and Luc. Those who knew him will remember his quiet strength, sense of humor, and playful teasing that brought joy to many.

May his memory bring comfort to all that loved him.
