Obituary of Deborah Jean Dew

Deborah “Debbie” Jean Dew, 59, of Eveleth, MN, passed away peacefully on December 21st, 2024, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.

Debbie was born on October 27th, 1965, in Eveleth, Minnesota, to Edmund and Charlene (Wudinich) Frye. She graduated from Cotton School and spent a year at Suomi College in Hancock, Michigan. Wearing many “hats” throughout her life, Debbie was a bartender at Goodfellas, Timbers Edge, and El Toro and sold pull-tabs at BG’s. She also worked as a secretary at Northland Temp. Together with her cousin, Lisa, Debbie co-owned Creative Celebrations – a balloon business in Eveleth that brought joy to many.

Debbie’s kitchen was the heart of her home. She found joy in baking and cooking for loved ones, ensuring no one left without a full stomach and a container of leftovers. Her ramen noodle salad and ham salad were legendary, often requested by her niece and nephews.

In 1986, Debbie welcomed her daughter, Brandy, who became the light of her life and best friend. Their bond was unbreakable, and Debbie cherished every late-night conversation and shared moment with her.

Family meant everything to Debbie. She treasured spending time with her niece, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, always showering them with love and affection. Her warm and caring spirit left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Edmund Frye; her significant other, Mark Hopke; and brother-in-law, Daniel “Shadow” Reitmajer.

She is survived by her mother, Charlene Frye; her beloved daughter, Brandy Dew; her brother, Dennis Frye (Barb Nygard); her sister, Donna Reitmajer; nephews Dillon Frye, Daniel and Donovan Reitmajer; niece Deanna Reitmajer; and great-nieces and great-nephews Miles, Carson, Zayley, Adaya, and Dillon. She also leaves behind dear friends Sherry, Renee, and Lisa, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 4th, 2025, from 1 PM to 4 PM at Timbers Edge Bar and Grill in Eveleth, MN.

Debbie’s warmth, love, and generous heart will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know her.
