Antoine "Tony" Poppelaars
Antoine "Tony" Poppelaars, 95, of Boerne, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024. Born in the Netherlands, Tony studied and earned his degree in Architectural Engineering in Tilburg, Holland. It was during a celebration of his graduation that he met the love of his life, Simone. Their love story began with their marriage in 1953 when they moved to Toronto, Canada. Together, they immigrated to Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1956, where Tony began his career with General Mills before starting his own custom home building business.
Tony loved family, fishing, woodworking, and sharing stories around the kitchen table. He was a devoted family man, deeply proud of his wife, children, and grandchildren. As a devout Catholic, his faith was central to his life, and he was a constant source of love and strength for his family and friends. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Simone, in heaven.
Tony is survived by his daughters, Linda Poppelaars (Bruce Fein), TN, Cathy Mitchell (Stephen), TX, and son Dan Poppelaars (Carrie), WA; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Anne Waegemakers, in Toronto, Canada, and many nephews and nieces in Canada and the Netherlands. He was preceded in death by his wife, Simone.
A private Mass and interment will take place at a later date.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to CurePSP at psp.org.
