Obituary of Frederick John Bartl

Frederick John Bartl, 83, of Woodbury, Minnesota died on December 8, 2024. Fred was born January 21, 1941, in South Saint Paul to Nick and Stella Bartl. Survived by wife Karn (Hansen) Bartl; daughters Leslie (Jason) Wright, Jessica Bartl, and Jennifer (Michael) Wall; four grandchildren Casey (Scott) Berlin, Grant Wright, Max Wall, and Sadie Wall; sisters Carol Morris, Sue Maddux, and Lynn (Jim) Clare; sister-in-law Pat Hansen, and many nieces and nephews. Fred met the love of his life, Karn, as a sophomore at South Saint Paul High School. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this past July. His second love was football. Fred played from junior high through college. His undefeated 1958 high school team was inducted into the South Saint Paul Hall of Fame in 2017. After high school, Fred attended Harvard University, earned a degree in business, and was a running back until his graduation in 1963. His professional life included time at Northwestern Bell, AT&T, and Vistage. Fred was active in Rotary and Woodbury Community Foundation. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to: Aphasia Hope Foundation, Dementia Society of America, National Aphasia Association, Woodbury Community Foundation, or to your charity of choice. Celebration of life to be determined. Private interment.
