Obituary of Arvin Gene Olson

Arvin Gene Olson, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, November 29, 2024.  He was born in Montevideo, Minnesota on August 31,1943 to Elmer and Bernice (Jordahl) Olson.  He grew up in Dawson and Minneapolis, Minnesota, and graduated from Vocational High School.

Arvin was united in marriage to Shirley Lewandowski on November 23,1963 in Minneapolis. The couple settled in Plymouth, Minnesota and raised their family there.  In retirement, they moved to Otsego, Minnesota.

Arvin was a Drywall Taper and owned his own business, Arvin’s Drywall.  After he retired, he busied himself by driving buses up from Oklahoma for Hoglund Transportation.

Arvin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.  He loved making connections and telling stories from his experiences traveling, hunting, fishing, playing cribbage, reading, going to movies and eating out.  Most of all, his family was everything. 

Arvin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley; his children, Heidi (Scott) Arndt of St. Michael and Scott (Denise) Olson of Zimmerman; six grandchildren, Lucy (AJ) Kalupa, Colton (Tristina) Olson, Chase (Alyssa) Olson, Marah (David) Cotter, Dawson (Madison) Olson, and Graham Olson; six great-grandchildren, Addison, Waylon, Caleb, Noah, Hadley, and Evelyn; his sisters, Velores Bosquez, Sandy (Steve) Oberts, and Tammy; sister-in-law, Janice Olson and many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by Heather (Doug) Sroka, Tyler, Chelsea, and Cullen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Bernice Olson; his brothers, Arlin and LeRoy Olson and brother-in-law, John Bosquez. 

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to family and friends who prayed and provided support during this difficult time and to Triniti Home Health and Hospice for their excellent care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 10th at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael, Minnesota.  Visitation begins at 11:30 a.m.  Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. with lunch to follow.
