Obituary of Randy William Davis
Randy William Davis of St Paul, MN passed away unexpectedly in July 2024 at the age of 69. He is predeceased by his parents, Walter O. and Lois M. Davis. He is survived by his daughter, Abigail (Abby, Avi) Davis; his former wife, Erica Davis; his brother, Scott R Davis; his Uncle Bill MacKinnon; extended family members; and dear friend, Barbara Feehan.
Randy grew up in Syracuse and Garden City, New York and Cleveland, Ohio, and for over 40 years Randy has called the Twin Cities home.
The coastal waters, whether Long Island Sound, the shores of Maine or the North Shore of Minnesota including Lake Superior at Duluth, drew Randy into a special communion with nature. He spent special moments with Barbara in Duluth just before his passing.
During his youth, Randy loved camping as a Boy Scout. He proudly achieved the level of Eagle Scout. He also loved traveling with his mom and dad as they explored many national parks. His favorite place to camp as an adult was Itasca State Park in Northwestern Minnesota near the headwaters of the Mississippi.
Randy dedicated much of his professional life to media, working across a broad range of editorial projects. He took pride in his work, from covering health topics and corporate relations on Public TV to contributing to the popular show Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. For nearly a decade, Randy was an essential part of the KSTP news team at Hubbard Broadcasting, serving as an editor and mentor.
Randy was a dedicated caregiver and health care advocate for his mom, Lois, for the last 8 years of her life, until her passing in 2022.
It is difficult to describe Randy in a few words but family and friends came up with these qualities: loving father, humorous, caring, creative, supportive, empathetic, a dreamer.
Randy's Celebration of Life will be held on Friday December 13, 2024 in the Berglund Wright Room at the Como Park Zoo Visitor Center building, 1225 Estabrook Drive, Saint Paul, MN 55103. Please plan to arrive between 1:30-1:50 p.m. The service will begin promptly at 2:00. A reception will follow.
