Billie Jean Wicklund was an amazing Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Wife and Friend. Sadly, she left this world on May 2nd, 2024 at the age of 90.
She was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Alvin and Lillian Phillips in 1933. Billie Jean moved to Minnesota in 1946 where she was reunited with her family. She attended Columbia Heights High School and met a group of girls who became lifelong friends, " The Girl Club". In 1953 she married Eugene Wicklund. Together they had four children, Steve, Dave, Sherry and Sue.
She loved spending most of her time at the family cabin on Coon Lake where she later built her home, surrounded by family and friends. Billie Jean was a skilled cook who loved hosting large family dinners. Her favorite thing aside from going to the Casinos was travelling. She spent many Minnesota winters visiting family in Louisiana, flying to Las Vegas, going on Cruises and many other vacations. In her down time, Billie Jean loved to read, sitting in her four season porch with a good book and a cat in her lap.
Being an incredibly skilled Administrator she helped a number of organizations with Operations and Accounting. She did not officially retire until she was 70!
Billie Jean is Survived by, Sherry Cocchiarella, Toni Cintella, Eric Hillyer (Kristin) Katlyn Hillyer, Laura Lemke (Blaine) , Renee Sanders (Mike), Holly Cocchiarella and many Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.
She is preceded in death by Eugene Wicklund, Alva Wolle, Steve Wicklund, Dave Wicklund, Susan Hillyer, Julie Cocchiarella and Evan Sanders.
Her Celebration of Life is being held at Glen Cary Lutheran Church with Visitation starting at 10:00am and the Service at 11:00am with lunch to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
