Obituary of Irene Martinson

Irene (Newlander) Martinson, 80, of Proctor, Minn. passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, surrounded by her loving family while at Viewcrest Healthcare. Irene was a loving, caring mother and grandmother. She touched many lives while working as a CNA in the Duluth/ Superior area. Irene loved her family, family get-togethers and her cats. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Esther Newlander; a brother, Dennis Newlander and a sister, Sally Newlander. Irene is survived by her children Julie Steele, Shelly (Allen) Kivisto, Craig (Julie) Martinson and Todd (Mary) Martinson; grandchildren Jamie, Erik and Sean Kivisto, Lauren Martinson, Jackie Fontaine, and Alex, Skyler, Laveena and Mathew Martinson; twin sister Ida (Charles) Bensen; brothers Harvey (Darlene) Newlander and Peter (Jody) Newlander; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. VISITATION: 10 a.m. gathering of family and friends until the 11 a.m. memorial service on Saturday, Sept. 10 in the New Life Community Church, Assemblies of God, 11698 Hwy 8, Floodwood, Minn.
