Obituary of Georgianna I. Lorntson

Georgianna I. Lorntson, 93, formerly of Beaver Bay, passed away on September 26, 2021 with her husband at her side. Georgie was born in Ashland, Wisconsin on May 5, 1928 to Christina (nee’ Pelzel) and George Stockinger. She grew up in Rice Lake, Wis. and moved to Beaver Bay, Mn where she met and married her husband of 70 years, Robert. Together they had 7 children, Christine (Clifford, d) Johnson, Mary (Arnold) Harp, Susan (Tom) Johnson, Arthur (Therese), Josephine (Steven) Strand, Robert Jr., Theresa (Allen,d) Walker.

Georgie had many talents and interests. She was an excellent gardener, often stating she was happiest with a shovel in her hands working in the dirt. She spent many hours in her workshop making crafts of wood for Bob to sell down at the Holiday. She had a knack for figuring out how to make or fix anything. She made weekly trips to the library to get a stack of books to read. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and her daily dose of Jeopardy, “and stuff like that.”

She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and many loved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by sons-in-law Clifford Johnson and Allen Walker. great grand children Gabe Johnson, and River Johnson, her brothers Michael and John, and sisters Patricia, Rosemary, and Priscilla.

Per Georgie’s wishes, a private gathering was held.
