Obituary of Betty Ann Haugen

 

Betty Ann Haugen, age 82, A longtime resident of Elbow Lake MN, most recent Buffalo MN, passed away on Sunday, February 7th, 2021 at the Estates of Excelsior nursing facility located in Excelsior MN. Thank you to the staff and nurses of The Estates of Excelsior and Moments hospice for their loving care.


Betty was preceded in death by her sister Joyce, brothers Gilbert (Gil) and Richard (Dick), father Gilman, mother Dagmar, husband Duane, son-in-law Terry, daughter Kimberly and son-in-law Mike and her beloved dog Max.


Betty is survived by her daughter Cindy Hansen, son Robert (Tammy) Haugen, son Kevin (Sean) Haugen, grandchildren Vanessa (Hannibal), Alicia (Andrew), Anthony (Kayla), Ashley, Spencer, Cortney, Nicolas, Mathew and Sarah, sisters Anita, Wendy, brothers Roger (Barbra), Charles (Marsha), Dennis (Sandy), sister-in-law Violet, nieces, nephews, family friends and dearly loved home aide Bailey Gruber and her cat Piper.

Betty was born on January 1st, 1939 in Lawler, Aitkin County, Minnesota to Gilman Tweed and Dagmar (Hendrickson).
Betty married Duane A Haugen of Norcross Minnesota On March 27th, 1959, in Hopkins, Minnesota. Betty and Duane lived for many years in Bloomington MN working and raising their family.


Betty was always up for a challenge while living in Bloomington she worked for Rosemount Engineering with a focus on the aerospace industry. Betty and Duane moved to Elbow Lake MN to run their resort Last Chance on Lake Pomme de Terre, additionally they added the Cat’s Eye super club also in the Elbow Lake area.  Betty and Duane spent many of their years being “snowbirds” spending Minnesota winters in Bullhead Arizona. Betty kept herself busy in Arizona working in maid services cleaning rooms. Betty worked and retired from working at the Barrett Care Center, Barrett, MN as a nursing aide. Betty is most s known for to her family and friends “as always busy doing something” cleaning, gardening, cleaning, fishing, cleaning, reading, cleaning, snowmobiling, cleaning, four wheeling, cleaning, enjoying her family, cleaning, friends, cleaning, or just plain fixing something her way, and cleaning!


Betty will be truly missed by all that have known and loved her.
