Obituary of Robert Allen Benson

Robert Allen Benson, 76, died peacefully on February 8, 2021 with his wife by his side, after a brief bout with cancer.

He had an interesting variety of degrees beginning with a BFA majoring in ceramics and jewelry, a BA in teaching art and art therapy and a degree in X-ray Technology. He also did photography while in the Navy.

He has worked for Uncle Sam, Western Weighing, Continental Grain, Superior School District, Beverly Health and Rehab, St. Luke’s and as a home care giver for his mother.

His hobbies included jewelry, ceramics, painting, wood carving, photography, hunting, fishing, camping and watching movies. The class of 2001 may remember him as the artist at their all night grad party.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dick and Mary Benson his father-in-law David Buelow and best friends from grade school Ernest Izzard and Jim Nikstad.

He is survived by his wife Susan, a son Eric (Christy), a daughter April and a grandson Tristan. Also a brother Richard (Cathi) Benson, sister Bernice (Jack) Christiansen, sisters-in-law Dorothy (David) Enger, Nancy (Douglas) Eilks, Beverly (Robert) Morris, brother-in-law Mark Buelow, mother-in-law Marian Buelow and multiple cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A memory service will be held at a later date after most have had the opportunity to be vaccinated for Covid19.
