Obituary of Merrilee J Nelson

Nelson, Merrilee J. ‘Mimi’ 69, of Apple Valley, passed away 1/20/2021.

Preceded in death by parents Kenneth A. Nelson & Charlotte L. (Gustafson) Nelson, and brother Douglas B. Nelson.  Survived by sister-in-law BettyAnne (Chappell) Nelson, niece Julie (Nelson) Emry, nephews Ken Nelson, John Nelson, great-nephews and nieces Justin (Sarah) Emry, Derek Emry, Madyson & Kennedy Nelson, great-great nephew August and many loving friends.

Merrilee grew up in Excelsior, MN and cherished her family home on Lake Minnetonka.  Her early years were spent wintering in Key Largo where she began a lifelong love of the Keys.  She graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1969 and attended Gustavus Adolphus College, later earning a teaching degree in special education.

Mimi was a very special aunt to her nieces and nephews.  She had such a big heart and her kindness, compassion and loving nature will be missed by all.   Interment date later this summer at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.  Cremation Society of MN Edina 952-800-1008.
