Obituary of Barbara J Harthan

Barbara J. Harthan, 78, formerly of Duluth, MN, passed away peacefully at her home in Becker, MN on February 8, 2021 with family by her side, following a courageous year battle with gallbladder cancer.

Barb was born in Duluth, MN on June 17, 1942 to Donald and Edythe Wesanen. She graduated from Duluth East High School. Barb was married to her husband, Larry, for 50 years and they lived in Duluth until his death in 2013. She worked for North Shore Bank of Commerce for several years. After welcoming her first child, she dedicated her time to raising a family, which was always her first priority. Barb was a hard worker and had an entrepreneurial spirit. As her children grew up, she began selling Avon, which blossomed into a very successful business for 42 years. Her success with her Avon business was recognized with several Presidents Club awards. Barb also went on to run a successful cleaning business.

Barb was an excellent seamstress and loved craft projects. She was very artistic and loved to decorate her beautiful home. Barb was also a wonderful cook and baker. She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers. Barb and her husband, Larry, loved taking trips up the shore along Lake Superior to explore and hike along the trails. They also enjoyed taking long car rides to explore small towns and antique shops.

Barb was an amazing, loving and generous woman. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Barb had a warm personality and great sense of humor. She was always there for her family, offering love and support. Barb never missed a birthday or anniversary. Her family was always at the forefront of her life. She was truly a mom like no other. Barb was loved so much by her family and friends. Her love can never be replaced and the memories of her will live in our hearts forever.

Barb is survived by her children, Pamela (Donald) Morgan of Cordova, Tennessee, Kevin (Jean) of Sartell, Minnesota, Laurie (Christopher) Hasler of Becker, Minnesota, and Natalie (Christopher) Brown of Becker, Minnesota, along with seven grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Monticello Cancer Center and CentraCare Home Hospice for their excellent care of Barb. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society.

There will be a private family service held at Forest Hill Cemetery.
