Obituary of Laura Mae Johnson

Laura Mae Johnson (Lovell)

Age 92, passed away peacefully at her New Hope home on February 6, 2021. 

Preceded in death by her husband, Roald "Ron"; son, Harlan Lee Johnson; parents, Fay and Laura Lovell; and brothers, Walter, Frank, Robert, and John. 

Survived by sons, Randy (Lanet) and Kendall (Annette) and daughter, Rindy (Dan) Rice; grandchildren, Charlyn and Harlan Johnson, Kelsi, Bradley, Bailey and Brent Johnson and Katie and Garrett Rice.

She was heartbroken to leave her beloved pets, Bowie and Sam.

Laura’s life journey began on Aug. 6, 1928 and was raised in St. Cloud, MN. She spent a lifetime devoted to her children and grandchildren, taking care of animals, and volunteering many hours at church, Three River Parks, and the Animal Humane Society. In her love of the great outdoors and animals, she and Ron camped in their pop-up camper all over the continent, petted harp seal pups on the ice floats in the Canadian Magdalen Islands, skied the Rockies at 80 yrs old, was invited to help relocate Trumpeter Swans with the conservation group that brought them back to our area, made Maple Syrup, rode miles and miles on bike paths everywhere, and was the resident caregiver for all orphaned wild animals on her block (ducks, squirrels, and bunnies).

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, February 12, 2021 at Elim Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale, MN at 1:00 pm with visitation 1 hour prior to service.

Memorials preferred to the Golden Valley Animal Humane Society or Elim Lutheran Church.
