Obituary of Hunter Vernon Carlson

Hunter Vernon Carlson came into our world like a hurricane on February 14, 2004 and left this world far too soon on January 28, 2021. From the day he was born he has always had a special place. He is the proud namesake of his grandfather Vern Carlson who passed away when Hunter was just 10 weeks old.

His zest for life was unmatched as well as his energy level. He had an infectious smile, laugh, and the ability to make you laugh until it hurt. He had love and compassion for all especially the elderly and little kids. He always showed patience and he could never say no. He was always rooting for the underdog. Even when everyone had given up on someone he was always the one to keep them propped up.

As his mother, we had a special bond through baseball that was unique. I was so proud to be able to coach him in a couple of his baseball years, although he did not share the same sentiment. Endless hours throwing batting practice and catching his pitching with many bruises to show for it. From a young age he was always curious working with dad in the garage or on the workbench taking things apart and channeling his non-stop creative skills. You may have seen his zip line, trapeze or dog kennel contraption in the tree as you drove by. His fearless nature and amazing ability to do new skills on the tramp or back flipping on the ski hill with no training. He loved riding his motorcycle at the cabin or on the dirt track when we could find one. He made most people nervous but that is who he was and we cherished it. Surprisingly with all the crazy things he did he never sustained a serious injury!

He lived life as if tomorrow was not guaranteed, something we can all take note of. We were not prepared for how real that would become.

He was our rainbow baby and we can never replace him. He will forever be loved and cherished by all he came to know.

Hunter is survived by his parents Leif and Deena, sister Afton, Grandparents Jan Carlson, Maury and Sharon Morgan, Aunts and Uncles Kim and Larry Lillie , Eric and Monica Carlson, Kurt Carlson, Great Great Aunt Carolann Carlson and cousins Jenna and Nicholas Lillie, Sam and Max Carlson and our beloved dog Ginny.

There are no words to describe the pain we all feel but find comfort in the day we can be reunited.

We love you to the moon and back Hunter.
