I have told this story of our trip to Disney World many times. We stopped at a gas station and Mom rolled up her pants to her knees, put on a pink wide brim hat, took a banana with her outside. As if that wasn’t bad enough, she started eating the banana and walking around the car! As a 13 year old I was sooo embarrassed and hid in the back seat of the car. This year Bill and I took Evelynn and Raguel to Montana. Naturally we had to fuel up. On one of those stops I got out to stretch my legs, took an apple with me to eat and walked around the van. And then I had the flashback of the Disney World trip. I truly was just like my mother! All I could do was laugh and think of how much I loved my mom.
And guess what mom? I now wear socks to bed, wrap my cookies or chocolate in a napkin, ask people if they need more light, and make sure my kids contact me when they are safely home. And now more than ever I will embrace with much love the thought of you every time I do things “just like my mom”.
I love you, Mom.
