Obituary of James Arthur Jeffers

1939-2020 

Jim passed away after a short illness on September 1, 2020 at the age of 80. Jim’s warmth, kindness, knowledge of all things big and small, wonderful humor and love will be missed by his family, many friends, and most of all, his wife of 53 years, Barb.  Barb and Jim enjoyed taking long walks around lakes, along rivers and creeks, trips to Chicago and the North Shore, Children’s Theater and the arts.  Jim also loved to read, taking special interest in history, politics, and novels based on historical events.  Jim especially enjoyed going to dirt track car races in Arizona, Iowa and Wisconsin.  Jim was born in Wisconsin, grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and bonds with friends lived on after moving to St. Paul in 1972.  He retired from Macalester College where many enduring friendships were made, and his friendships grew through the years over coffee at Dunn Bros.  Jim is a veteran of the United States Air Force and served prior to moving to Minnesota.  He graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a BA degree.  Jim is survived by his wife, Barb; sister, Coe Nicklaus, Tucson, Arizona; and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by grandparents; parents; and sister, Sue Bell.  A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.  May God bless Jim and hold him in His arms.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Last Hope and Feline Rescue.
