Obituary of Michael Jesse Moore

Michael Jesse Moore July 21, 1985 – June 22, 2020.

On July 21, 1985 Raymond Paul and Paula Marie Moore, of Racine and Superior, WI respectively, welcomed a baby boy, Michael Jesse Moore into the world in Duluth, MN.

Michael excelled in the class room, his achievements allowing him to skip the sixth grade at Duluth Montessori Elementary School. Michael proudly graduated with honors from Duluth Marshall High School in 2004. Michael excelled athletically as well, being a three year starter on the Duluth Marshall Varsity football team and making the varsity baseball team while still in the 8th grade.

Michael loved life in all its forms and held a special place for growing things. After high school, Michael spent two years at the University of Vermont majoring in Botany. Michael left college after his sophomore year, deciding to follow his heart and pursue his passion as a chef. Working in the best restaurants in Duluth, MN and Chicago, IL, Michael quickly rose from line cook to sous chef to head chef and then General Manager of one of the best restaurants in Chicago.

Michael spent the last four years as a roofer for a local company in Milwaukee, WI.

For all of his recognized academic, athletic and professional accomplishments, Michael’s true strength came from his commitment to his community and family personified by his abilities as a neighbor, son and brother. Michael truly was a joy to have around, his infectious and effortless smile, generosity of spirit and commitment to his family adding light to every occasion.

However, the love Michael carried in his heart was never more evident than in his unique and innate ability as an uncle to his five year old nephew, Raymond Odaro Moore of Boston, MA.

Michael Jesse Moore passed away at his home in Milwaukee on June 22, 2020 at the age of 34. He is belovedly survived by his mother Paula, brother Robert of Boston, MA and especially his little nephew Raymond as well as his Aunts, Gwendolynne and Brenda Moore of Milwaukee, WI, Jo Soeldner of Superior, WI and Linda Mann of Duluth, MN, Uncles Thomas and Gerald McKinney of Milwaukee, WI as well as too many cousins to mention here, most of Milwaukee, WI.

His family, while saddened, remains eternally grateful for the time we had with Michael’s physical presence. We will not say goodbye because Michael continues to walk with us, watch over us and even being called to heaven for the important work that God has for him cannot diminish how much we need him or the way we feel his influence and love.
