Obituary of William Lieb, Sr.

William 'Bill' Lieb Sr., age 82, born April 21, 1938 in Faribault, MN to Helen and Louis Lieb.  He passed away peacefully at home on July 6, 2020.

Bill graduated high school from Concordia Academy in 1956, earned his Associate's Degree from Concordia College in 1960 and his BA in Elementary Education from the University of MN in 1965.  He taught at St. Peter's Lutheran School 1960-1964 and St.Paul Public Schools 1965-1996.  Bill served one term as President of, City of St. Paul Education Association (CSPEA), two years on the MN Education Association (MEA) Board of Directors and four terms as Supervisor for Corinna Township, Wright County, MN.

Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and TEACHER! Outside of the classroom he 'taught' as a dad/mentor to all his children/granddaughter and their friends, a foster parent, a football coach, a Boy Scout Troop Leader, chairperson of the Lake Improvement District (LID), chairperson of the Water Management Task Force through Wright Soil and Water Conservation District, volunteer for the Lake Assessment Program (LAP), volunteer at Pioneer Park, a youth leader and other leadership positions at his church, Corinna Township Fire Warden, and the resident substitute teacher at Phoenix Learning Center.  He was a science teacher in the classroom and he used the same scientific method in his life: question, ponder, plan, research, experiment, calmly observe, evaluate, communicate.  His greatest teaching assignment was living his life as an example for others.

Bill's other passions include: his faith, his dogs, birds, nature, camping, environmental conservation, enjoying the lake - swimming, canoeing, fishing or a slow cruise on the pontoon, football/baseball, American history and it's cultures and politics, woodworking, trains, reading, poetry, a good game of cribbage or 500,  classical music, and observing the beauty of the world from his porch with a cup of coffee, smoking his pipe.

He is survived by his wife Pearl, of 62 years, his children Gretchen, Dan (Mary), Bill Jr. (Kim), Grandchildren Cassie (Aaron), Mark, Nate and Great Grandchildren Aubrey and Levi.   He was preceded in death by his parents Helen and Louis Lieb and sister Lorraine Siewert.
