Gerald Redenbaugh

Obituary of Gerald D. Redenbaugh

Jerry, 75, passed away peacefully on Mar. 9, 2020, at Essentia Health Hospital, surrounded by his loving family after a two-year struggle with leukemia. He was born on Feb. 25, 1945, in Moose Lake to Mabel and Alvie Redenbaugh.

Jerry graduated from Denfeld High School in 1963, then served his country in the Air Force, stationed in Germany. Jerry worked for many years as a painter and in maintenance.

In the spring of 1992, Jerry met Gail, who, in his own words, was the “love of his life.” Together, they enjoyed a life filled with fishing, home projects, trips to Las Vegas and spending time with their beloved dog Sammy. Jerry was delighted to see Sammy in his final hours at the hospital.

Jerry was affectionately known by his family as “Papa”. At summer’s end, when fishing rods and boats were in storage and the days grew shorter, Papa relished chasing deer and birds in the green swamps near Floodwood. His family and grandchildren remember Papa for making deer camp the best part of their year. Despite being very ill in November, he made it to deer camp one last time. His ashes will be scattered there.

Jerry was preceded in death by parents Mabel (Randy) Foro & Alvie (Vivian) Redenbaugh, brother Bill Redenbaugh and brother-in-law Rod Linn. He is survived by companion Gail Garrick; daughter Tammy Youngman; grandson Rob (Chey) Olaf and their children, Robbie III & Savonne; grand-daughter Ashley (Mike) Stapleton and their children, Eli & Noah; sisters Carol Linn & Patricia Martin; brother Fred (Kathy) Redenbaugh; sister-in-law Roberta (Bunny) Redenbaugh; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, stepchildren and their families, all of whom he cherished.

At Jerry’s request, there will be no service.
