Obituary of Loren R. Benson

Loren R.  Benson, 80, of Duluth passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020. He was born June 20, 1939 in Duluth.

Loren worked at Sheltered Workshop, Goodwill, Pinewood and UDAC. He retired 2 years ago.

Loren enjoyed fishing, camping, Huskies games and was a fan of the Twins & Vikings. He loved celebrating all occasions, especially the ones that included food. He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling and was an avid bowler.

He is preceded in death by his mother Austrid Benson in November, 1960, father Ralph L Benson in September of 1985, stepmother Elaine Benson in February, 2002, sister Karen Pederson, nephew Jay Pederson in July, 1968.

Loren is survived by his sisters, Janis Hunter of Bakersfield, CA, Beverly Nelson of Las Cruces NM, brothers, Ralph Benson (Angela) and William Benson (Sarah Meyer), and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family is so grateful for the staff at Triplex, Laverne and DRCC. Memorials may be sent to DRCC and UDAC.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am at Our Savior’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4831 Grand Ave., Duluth, MN, on Wednesday, March 11th. Pastor Elizabeth Davis will be officiating.
