Hodgkins Jr, Richard Claude “Khoti”

age 76, departed earth July 26,2019 to be with God and all of his beloved family, friends, former teammates, military brothers and sisters and pets that have been waiting for him in heaven.  Formerly of Bloomington, Minneapolis and Red Wing, MN.  Preceded in death by his parents, Richard C. Sr. “Tiny” and Delores “Babe”; sisters, Diane and Karen.  Survived by daughters, Heather (Troy), Erin and their mother, Sharon; granddaughters Tabitha, Sailor Cate and Emma-Scout; in addition to nieces, nephews, brothers and sister in law, friends and family near and far and animal friends everywhere.  Dick made friends every single day and was always on the lookout for a laugh, a prank and to incorporate balance in each day.  He passed on to many the importance and power of faith.  He lived by example.  He loved sports, music and the opportunity to travel.  He enjoyed football, baseball, basketball, golf, bowling and learned to love soccer and hockey even more.  He was proud of his efforts, discipline and senior men’s baseball team friendships.  He earned his bachelor’s, master’s and PhD.  He was recognized for his dedication to criminal justice, social work, advocacy and service.  He initially served as a Marine and he retired from the armed forces as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve with decades of leadership and special projects work with psychiatric medical detachment, hospital command, family assistance and training operations. Memorial Gathering Monday, August 12^th, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Cremation Society of MN, 4343 Nicollet Avenue South, Mpls. Interment Tuesday, August 13^th, 10:30 am at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
