Obituary of Daniel Obern Staples
Daniel Obern Staples, 95, of Two Harbors, passed away on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at Ecumen Scenic Shores.
He was born on Oct. 10, 1922, and grew up and attended school in Grand Marais.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during WWII. He was employed at Zinsmaster Baking Company until his retirement.
He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. He was a volunteer for the Salvation Army and a charter member of the Two Harbors Lions Club and named Lake County Senior Citizen of the year in 1998. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Two Harbors Golf Association.
He is survived by his wife Lois, off 66 years; daughters, Sandra (Bruce) Jordan, Annette (David) Forsell, Rosemary (Duane) Heber, Sharon (Brian) Pelander and Jacqueline (David) Stanko; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a sister, Neva Marks and a brother, Dwain Staples of Grand Marais.
Visitation will be from 10 Thursday, November 20, 2014 until the 11 a.m. memorial service in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Two Harbors.
