Obituary of Robert Joseph Lucas

Robert Joseph Lucas 81, of Superior, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014 at the Villa Marina Health Care Center, Superior. He was born Jan. 18, 1933 in Superior to Virginia and Matthew Lucas. Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 serving stateside during the Korean War. He worked for the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Rail Road for 39 years and retired in 1995. Robert was an avid fisherman and gardener. He was also a fan of all sports including the Packers and the Brewers. Robert enjoyed playing cribbage and other card games with family and friends. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria Jane; his parents; and a sister, June Tonkin. Robert is survived by his children, Michael Joseph (Jenn Johnson) Lucas of Superior, William Matthew (Sheryl) Lucas of Grandview, Wis., and Sarah Jane Lucas of Key West, Fla.; four grandchildren, Sophia, Reece, GingerAnn and Adelyn; Godson, Donald Follett of Cloquet; a brother, Richard (Bonnie) Lucas of Superior; many nieces, nephews and extended family members. GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Saturday, Dec. 20, in Holy Family Catholic Church, 280 Reservation Road, Cloquet.
