William “Bud” H. Elden

William "Bud" H. Elden, 95, of Duluth, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital.

Bud was born in Duluth on September 8, 1922 to William and Amelia (Sather) Elden. He graduated from Central High School in 1940 and was a member of the Central High School swimming team. After graduating in 1940, he spent 3 years in the US Navy in the South Pacific and the Philippines. After returning home he went into the life insurance business. Bud was a life member of The Million Dollar Round Table and in 1956 became General Agent for Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company. He served as secretary and vice president for the General Agents Association. During this time his agency received 20 awards for outstanding sales and service. Bud was a director for St. Louis County Federal Savings and Loan Service Corporation. He retired in 1979 and divided his time between Florida and his lake cabin in Canyon, Minnesota. Bud enjoyed traveling, spending time outdoors and working in his yard.

He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly in 1982 and sisters Doris and Shirley.

William is survived by his two sons, Steven (Arlene) and John (Eileen); two grandchildren, Jeffrey (Katie) Elden and Lynn (Jesse) Kinnison; step-grandchildren, Kari (James), Ron and Tom (Tara); great-grandchildren, Norah and Andrew Elden; step-great-grandchildren, Cole, Mya, Luke, Remi and Parker. He is also survived by brother John (Joan).

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Long, Dr. LaBarre, the nursing staff at St. Luke's Hospital as well as the staff at Westwood Terrace.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 P.M. until the 3 P.M. memorial service on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Cremation Society of Minnesota 4100 Grand Ave. Duluth, MN.
